Day 2

I want to sleep longer….I’m on vacation, but my body clock has not changed. I have enough sleep anyway and I am ready for the new day!

It’s a rainy spring morning! Oh, it’s going to be colder for sure! I dress up with four layers of clothing. Yes, I am ready. I am sure that the extra inner leggings and the gloves and thick socks will help me conquer the chilly weather today, and it does! I just love the weather, rainy, windy and what’s that??!! Trickles of snow??? Oh my goodness!!! Snow on a rainy day, so I rush down the elevator and go out on the side street to hopefully touch the snow, but it’s so little I barely touch it. I am nevertheless very excited. I didn’t expect to see snow, this is a miracle…a real blessing indeed!
Today, I am going to Seoul. We just missed the bus, hmmm, it takes a while for the next bus to come, so we have a change of route. Take another bus, then the subway. Great! I like to try different modes of transportation, I can then experience the normal way of life of many of my students.

First stop in Seoul, a special Jajangmyeon diner! Another Korean noodle I am very eager to taste and I’m not disappointed, in fact, another big serving for me! I have to eat a lot, we will go shopping today! Noodles and dumplings, a perfect combination! Burp!

Second stop is Dongdaemon market! It is very similar to the Greenhills Shopping Center in Manila. I hope the things are affordable too! There are several floors in that building, my primary goal is to buy souvenirs. The prices are not cheap at all! Good thing I can still haggle and bargain for the best price. I have several items to buy to bring home, especially for my children, I’m happy and relieved!
I am elated to see more people in Seoul, yet not so crowded. Walking around the city is fun,it is very clean, the rain has stopped but it is still cold. A big stall on the sidewalk catches my attention, wow, streetfood! I just have to try it! Most interesting is skewered rice cake and sausage with sweet and spicy sauce. Yummy! I want to try the others, there are so many choices, but my tummy can’t eat anymore…for now. Disappointed with myself, but I have to let go.

Third stop is Insadong. A very nice road with many shops selling arts and crafts. There are a lot of stores with just about anything cute! To my delight, I have to take advantage of the free picture-taking and email it to my family instantly! That’s a good memoir of Insadong!

Again, my eyes feasted on different street foods that make my mouth water. But I just have to prepare myself for a special dinner ahead.

I’m glad that I somehow burn some calories from my lunch and snacks because we are on our way to dinner already! Last stop for the day is at a very fancy Japanese restaurant, a special treat from my student.

It’s a wonderful dinner spent with a lot of laughter and great food! It is my first time to eat so many varieties of fish sashimi, octopus and shells. The food just keeps on coming, and thought it will never stop! I am eating good enough for the next two days! Oh yes, that’s how full I am! No kidding!...if only I can take home the leftovers!...Ha!ha!Ha!
